Art
is expression.
My
art expresses how I feel about existence and shows my
attitude towards life. So that is why the expression
in my work is sometimes humorous, sometimes futile,
sometimes exciting, and sometimes peaceful or even accidental.
To
best express my ideas, I find that an imaginative or
fable-like platform is most comfortable and conducive,
as it allows me to freely compose whatever to order
I see fit. I adapt elements from both art history and
reality to make up an isolated world - which looks unreal
and runs contrary to people's overall common sense.
It is in a way similar to what Tao Yunming created with
his story of "Tao Hua Yuan". But at the same
time, my work contains scattered elements, which remind
viewers of the undeniable existence of reality. My work
portrays scenes which are detached from our everyday
reality. But the distance between the real and surreal
is vague. Therefore, I am forced to take the point-of-view
of an observer.
The
figures in my artwork and what they are attempting to
do may be ridiculous or even foolish - who knows? Their
world has its own logic. However, their basic emotions,
impulses and desires can also be found in our "real
life". |
