I
don't want to force my own understanding or interpretation
of my paintings on the audience. The mixture of images
within each of my works is like a combination of controversial
things in life. I would like it that when the audience
views my paintings, they will also be able to experience
life. Although I, as an artist and can communicate with
the audience, I feel that all the answers about the
meaning of my paintings should come from each person's
own understanding. If a painting inspires or intrigues
the viewer's own association and thinking, they should
believe that it is true and valuable - because it is
from their own life’s experience and their personal
communication with the painting.
We
do not have to understand everything in each painting.
Like life, we cannot understand everything we have seen
or experienced.
