Li Wenchao
Biographical Information

Born in 1978 in Liaoning Province, China, Li Wenchao graduated in 2006 with a Master’s Degree from the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Art in Shenyang, one of China’s most important art academies.

Prior to 2008, Li had a few exhibitions of his works at local exhibitions in Beijing or before that in Shenyang.

In 2008, Li Wenchao was selected as one of the top 25 emerging Chinese artists at the Chinese Art Prize (CAP). Jury members who selected Li included: Gerard Goodrow (Director of Phillips de Pury, Germany and former Director of Art Cologne), Daniela Bousso (Director, Paço das Artes, San Paulo, Brazil), Ami Barak (Curator of “Art for the World – The Expo” at Shanghai World Expo 2010 and Curator of Art Forum Berlin 2007), Linel Rebenchuk (Director, Toronto International Art Fair), Du Xinjian (contemporary Chinese artist and former professor at Central Academy of Fine Arts) and Alexandra Seno (Writer).
