Song Yongjun
Biographical Information

Song Yongjun was born in 1976 in Leshan, Sichuan Province, China.

In 1999, Song obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, widely recognized as one of China’s premier art academies.

Between 1998 and 2006, Song Yongjun has participated in exhibitions in Kunming, Shenyang, Beijing, Nanning, Chengdu and Anhui in China. And his work was exhibited in Taiwan in 2003. In several of the exhibition, Song was given the award of “Excellence”. In 2007, Song participated in the 10th International Art Exposition in Beijing as well as an exhibition at the Wall Art Museum in Beijing.

In 2008, Song Yongjun was selected as one of the top 25 emerging Chinese artists at the Chinese Art Prize (CAP). Song’s work was awarded the “Viewer’s Choice” Prize at the CAP 2008. Jury members who selected Song included: Gerard Goodrow (Director of Phillips de Pury, Germany and former Director of Art Cologne), Daniela Bousso (Director, Paço das Artes, San Paulo, Brazil), Ami Barak (Curator of “Art for the World – The Expo” at Shanghai World Expo 2010 and Curator of Art Forum Berlin 2007), Linel Rebenchuk (Director, Toronto International Art Fair), Du Xinjian (contemporary Chinese artist and former professor at Central Academy of Fine Arts) and Alexandra Seno (Writer).

Song Yongjun’s work has been published in “Art Panorama”, “Chinese Contemporary Art”, “Contemporary Art & Design”, “Artlife”, and “MeiYuan”, amoung others.

Song's paintings have been collected by the Shenzhou Art Museum, Anhui Art Museum, National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, Wall Art Museum and the Sichuan Fine Art Museum, amoung others.
